Installing botcha3D
This document will guide you through the installation of botcha3D on both windows and macos operating systems. The software is available on both operating system and it presents the same feature set and workflows.
Windows
When you download the installer for windows for botcha you will find a .msi
package inside the ZIP folder that you download. Running the installer as administrator will install or upgrade your current installation of the tool.
macOS
When you download the archive for macOS you need to mount the image (.dmg
package you downloaded) and drag and drop the botcha package into the application
folder.
Illustrator plug-in
Botcha comes bundled with a plugin for Adobe Illustrator that allows you to export from botcha to AI and back. This plugin is automatically installed by botcha but it may happens that the automatic installation may fail. In the event of this happening here are the instructions to install it manually.
Windows
- Find the
BotchaAdobeExtension.zip
archive, that is located in Botcha installation directory in/asset/plugins
. By default Botcha installation directory isC:/Program Files/Botcha/
. It is allowed to copy the archive and paste it to the correct folder if you like. - Find the Adobe extension folder, that is:
C:/Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CEP/extensions/
. If the path is not complete you must add the missing folders. - Extract the content of
BotchaAdobeExtension.zip
archive into/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/CEP/extensions/BotchaAdobeExtension/
. DO NOT copy, move nor modify uncompressed files.
Unable to find AppData folder?
Open a file explorer window and type %appdata%
in the search bar as shown in the image below.
macOS
- Find the
BotchaAdobeExtension.zxp
archive, that is located inside Botcha3D.app. The application should be installed in 'Application' folder. To browse application contents you can right click with your mouse on Botcha3D.app and choose "Show Package Contents". The archive is in:\Botcha3D.app\Contents\Resources\asset\plugins\
. - Find the Adobe extension folder, that can be either:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/
or/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/
. If the path is not complete you must add the missing folders. - Extract the content of
BotchaAdobeExtension.zxp
archive into/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/BotchaAdobeExtension/
. DO NOT copy, move nor modify uncompressed files.
Unable to find Library folder?
Open finder and start browsing from Computer>Macintosh folder as shown in the image below
